Hawaiʻi End of Life Options

Hawaiʻi End of Life Options empowers terminally ill residents seeking medical aid in dying (MAID) to approach their death in a manner that aligns with their wishes and values.

We educate patients and providers, connect people to resources, and provide navigation and support related to the Our Care, Our Choice Act, which authorized MAID in Hawaiʻi on January 1, 2019.

Our Goals:

  • Ensure that every terminally ill Hawaii resident knows that MAID is an option in this state, and has an opportunity to access it if they so desire.
  • Ensure that every authorized caregiver knows they can prescribe MAID and that there is support and mentorship available.
  • Assist Hawaiʻi’s hospice and healthcare provider organizations as they work to incorporate the full measure of MAID-related services alongside all other end-of-life options into their standard of care.
